Final Thoughts

Here I am with my last assignment, where I’m supposed to tell my final thoughts and a brief summary of my works along the way.

My blogs: (15)

Number of visitors this semester: 63

This course was a really helpful one in the technology area. I actually liked taking it and learned multiple things along the way. I got to understand how important it is to use social media and all technology correctly, and always be careful how I use them and what I put out there. I’ve always considered myself good at managing technology, and so this course was very useful to help me improve and always remember to give credits to others and keep my privacy in mind. What I liked most about this class was: being able to create and manage my own blog and post about interesting information, and the topics of privacy and rights were something that opened my eyes in some way.

Like I said before, the things I got to learn are: to always keep my privacy in mind, and give credits to others instead of stealing their work or information.

If I could change something about this course would be, maybe, to make more blog-related activities and assignments to post. I love writing and posting my thoughts out there, so this is something I would have liked to be more involved in.

My Feedly Lists

For my seventh assignment of the class I had to do the following:

  • make two lists (personal / professional)
  • add five blogs to each list and then put them on a blog with a brief description of each site

Personal

  1. Food.com = contains blogs with different recipes for different kind of foods to make later on.
  2. Soompi = a news site to be up to date with what is happening in the Korean entertainment industry.
  3. New York Times – Travel = a site with traveling blogs containing good destinations, travel tips, and maybe even news from different places.
  4. Teen Vogue = here you can find news about culture, music, style, politics, movies, etc.
  5. Yesstyle = a platform where you can purchase different Korean products such as clothes, accessories, makeup, etc. You can also find some fashion blogs or related to it.

Professional

  1. Journalism.co.uk = on this site a lot of blogs can be found where they talk about journalism and a few news about multiple topics.
  2. ReadWrite = this one contains different posts about technology.
  3. Student Resources = this university site has information about the different fields of entertainment.
  4. TechTarget = a site that talks about technology, marketing, security, etc.
  5. The Next Web = contains good examples of blogs from a journalist.

A Christmas Movie List

The Christmas season is just around the corner, and even though Thanksgiving is yet to arrive, us Puerto Ricans love to celebrate Christmas beforehand and start decorating to our hearts’ content. Personally, one of the things I look forward to the most when we’re almost entering the month of December, are the Christmas movies. There is just something about watching one of those films that makes everything so much more special, along with my family, and it never fails to make me absolutely happy.

Here are some of my personal favorite movies that you just NEED to watch during the coldest, and yet, the warmest season of the year:

01: Home Alone (1990)

  • Plot:
    • A young boy named Kevin is left behind, accidentally, by his family when they take off on their trip to France during the Christmas season. As soon as he realizes he has been left alone on their big mansion, he learns to take care of himself and protect the house from two burglars who planned to rob every house from Kevin’s neighborhood.source

02: A Christmas Carol (2009)

  • Plot:
    • Ebenezer Scrooge has always been an old man filled with nothing but misery, especially during Christmas. He begins the season being his usual self and not treating those around him fairly, but he’s then visited by three ghosts on Christmas Eve (Past, Present, Future). He goes through an eye-opening journey where he must choose whether or not to correct his mistakes before it’s too late. source

03: The Grinch (2000)

    • The Grinch, who hates Christmas, becomes annoyed by all the festivities happening in Whoville during the holidays. After he plans his idea of stealing every single gift and Christmas decoration from all the Who’s, he learns the true meaning of the Christmas season, which is beyond anything material.source

05: Edward Scissorhands (1990)

  • Plot:
    • Edward, a synthetic youth made by an inventor, is left with a pair of scissors as hands after the death of the man who invented him. He is discovered by an Avon lady, who takes pity on him and takes him with her. He gets the attention of the people, and starts feeling attracted to the Avon lady’s daughter. Everything takes a bad turn when he’s falsely accused of a crime, and everyone starts seeing him as a criminal.source

Internet De Las Cosas

– written in spanish for better understanding and easier redaction –

A Look Into Harry Styles’ Career

Treat People With Kindness.

Harry Styles

Harry Styles has been my no. 1 favorite artist ever since his One Direction years and he still remains one of my favorites up until this day, during his solo career. In order to celebrate his new song’s release (‘Lights Up’) and its peculiar, but amazing nevertheless, music video, here’s a look into Harry Styles.

First and foremost: Who is Harry Styles?

Harry Edward Styles was born on February 1st, 1994 and he’s from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, England. During his adolescence he used to work at a bakery right there in his town, until he participated on The X Factor in 2010 by singing ‘Isn’t She Lovely?’ from Stevie Wonder, with merely 16 years old.

His journey to be what he is today:

After entering the competition, he was cut out before the finals. Things took a surprising twist when one of the judges, Simon Cowell, decided to join Harry and 4 more competitors into a band, which was then called One Direction. Harry, Louis, Liam, Niall, and Zayn didn’t win first place on the show, however, their popularity rose unexpectedly and very quickly. They released five albums called ‘Up All Night’ (2011), ‘Take Me Home’ (2012), ‘Midnight Memories’ (2013), ‘Four’ (2014), and ‘Made In The AM’ (2015). On 2015, they announced they would go on an indefinite hiatus from 2016 onwards, and they still remain on their separate ways up until this day.

His solo path

After Harry’s separation from One Direction, he started filming Christopher Nolan’s war thriller ‘Dunkirk‘ which was released on 2017. That same year, he launched his solo career with his debut song ‘Sign of the Times’ and, following, his debut album ‘Harry Styles‘. His album contained 10 songs:

  1. Meet Me in the Hallway
  2. Sign of the Times
  3. Carolina
  4. Two Ghosts
  5. Sweet Creature
  6. Only Angel
  7. Kiwi
  8. Ever Since New York
  9. Woman
  10. From the Dining Table

“A lot of my influences, and the stuff that I love, is older… I didn’t want to put out my first album and be like, ‘He’s tried to re-create the Sixties, Seventies, Eighties, Nineties.’ Loads of amazing music was written then, but I’m not saying I wish I lived back then. I wanted to do something that sounds like me.”

Harry Styles in Rolling Stone

After releasing his first album, he went on a tour on 2018 called Harry Styles: Live On Tour. I had the chance to see him, for the very first time, performing live on July 9th, 2018 in Sacramento, CA. It was a unique experience, and I’d gladly go back.

Harry finished his 2018 tour, and took two years to finally release new content. He released the single ‘Lights Up’ recently, on October 2019, with the music video. Strong rumors are going around that his new album is just around the corner, and could be released when we least expect it. Harry LOVES surprising us fans, so we could be listening to more content any day now.
